Call to make Pak-India talks result-oriented
The visit of SM Krishna to Pakistan is vital for bridging the gap between the two nations, said PPP leader Syed Asif Hashmi.
In a statement issued on Sunday following the visit of Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna to Gurduwara Dera Sahab, he said the PPP government had always preferred cordial and friendly relations on the principle of mutual respect. He said that between 2008 and 2012, the then Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani met his Indian counterpart Dr Manmohan Singh on different venues with an agenda to end past bitterness between the two sides and deal all issues through dialogue. He, however, said that dialogue should be result-oriented. Hashmi, also chairman of Evacuee Trust Property Board, sent a bouquet to SM Krishna during his visit to Gurdarwara Dera Saahab besides lauding his commitment to solve issues between the two sides. He said it was time leaders of both sides should continue to focus on maintaining the people to people contact which could prove vital for the prosperity of the one of the most populated region.
