Lucky escape for Raina as he nearly chopped the ball on to his stumps, he played the ball away from the body, trying to dab it past gully, the ball took the inside edge and missed the stumps by a whisker. Raina looked a bit confused in the Trent Boult over. After such a good start he might be losing focus.

Sanjay Manjrekar says Pujara should not be looked at as the 'next Dravid' but as the 'next No.3'. You guys agree? Do put in your comments here.

Eventful first session that was as New Zealand starting the day at 328/6 were bundled out for 365 in under ten overs. Pragyan Ojha (28.1-10-99-5) returned with a five-for. Kruger van Wyk was the first to go after scoring a sustainable 71 runs and stitching together a solid 99-run partnership with Doug Bracewell (43). Bracewell fell next in the most unfortunate circumstance falling short of his crease at the non-strikers’ end. Yadav cleaned up Jeetan Patel and Ojha wrapped up the NZ batting with the wicket of Tim Southee.

In reply, Indian openers struggled as new ball bowlers Tim Southee and Trent Boult bowled well in tandem utilising the pace and bounce and the overcast conditions well. Gambhir’s (9) poor run in the series continued as he shouldered arms to an in-coming delivery to see his off-stump bail rattled after he was dropped in the slip cordon early on.

Sehwag (39*) had early jitters but went about playing his shot taking the odd risk. Cheteshwar Pujara was bounced out by a well directed bouncer by Tim Southee for nine runs. Sehwag got few cheeky boundaries through the slip cordon as Sachin Tendulkar bide his time in the middle playing 41 balls for his 4 runs.
