Chiranjeevi sets the trap for BCs
In an attempt to garner the attention of Backward Classes (BCs), Rajya Sabha member Chiranjeevi appealed to the state government to arrange sub-plan for them just like sub-plan for SCs/STs. He lauded the government for the recommendation of cabinet sub-committee calling it as historic and at the same time pointed out the need for bringing a sub-plan for BCs.
Political observers say, Chiru's statement in favor of BCs is a ploy to counter his opponents Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan who declared fielding 100 BC candidates each on their party tickets in the 2014 polls. Even YSR Congress leaders went ahead and declared that they would fight until 100 seats were reserved for BC community in the Assembly.
TDP leaders described Chiru's sub-plan statement as political gimmick to attract the BC vote bank and demanded the erstwhile PRP chief to mount pressure on the government to bring a sub-plan for BCs instead of giving statements before media, if he is committed.
