World Cup Winner Fighting For 'Degree'
Unmukt Chand, the man who led Indian U19 team to grab the Cricket World Cup is now fighting to win a 'degree'. This is not that he couldn't study or pass, but the college authorities are barring him to write exams for a 'rule'.
As a case of poor attendance record, Unmukt is not getting allowed to write final exams of Degree first year by prestigious St.Stephens College in New Delhi. In fact the college is demanding 33.33% attendance as he is admitted through sports quota, but Unmukt failed to get the mark. But rules can be relaxed for a 19 year old who made the whole country proud and also a good scorer when it comes to studies (got 74% in Intermediate) says law experts and others. However, principal of St.Stephens felt that he has got nothing with Unmukt but rules are that way.
With the programs of BCCI and other cricket stuff being fixed much before the admission of Unmukt into college, authorities should give him a concession. Fresh news is that the U19 Captain is fighting the issue in court to relax such rules not just for him but for all sports stars of India.
