Dharam Dev Pishorimal Anand, better known as Dev Anand was born on September 26, 1923. 

Dev Anand's father Pishori Lal Anand was an advocate. Dev Anand was born in Gurdaspur of undivided Punjab. He did his graduation in English Literature from Government College, Lahore in British India.

Actor, producer and director Dev Anand worked in more than 100 films in his career of almost 65 years.  

Dev Anand was in a relationship with Bollywood actress Suraiya. They worked in many films together and during a film shoot he saved her from drowning. As she was Muslim and Anand was Hindu, her family didn't agree for their wedding. 

In 1954, during the shooting of 'Taxi Driver', Dev Anand secretly tied the knot with his co-actor Kalpana Kartik (Mona Singh). 

Dev Anand became a father when Kalpana gave birth to Suneil Anand in 1956. 

The couple also has a daughter named Devina (in black overcoat). After the birth of her daughter, Kalpana decided to quit films and concentrate on her family. 

Dev Anand died of cardiac arrest on December 3, 2011 at a London hotel. He was 88 year old. 

Dev Anand's son Suniel has a degree in Business Administration. He also tried his luck in Bollywood with films like 'Anand Aur Anand', 'Main Tere Liye' and 'Master'.

Now, Suniel Anand wants to make a film under his father's production banner Navketan Films. The film will be called 'Vagator Mixer'. 

Dev Anand's elder brother Manmohan Anand was an advocate. His other two brothers Chetan Anand and Vijay Anand were also associated with Bollywood like him.
