No IPL 6 for Deccan Chargers
Financial crisis has prompted the Deccan Chargers management to sell it's IPL Franchise stake. As a result, they mayn't be available for the Indian Premier League 6 which is expected to take place in the next summer.
BCCI is planning to auction the Deccan Chargers IPL Franchise soon. A decision on DC's future will be taken in the IPL governing council meeting on September 4.
Due to lack of funds, Deccan Chargers management hasn't paid the salaries to many of it's IPL 5 players. Notably, the DC Group had made plans to sell the IPL Franchise stake in the month of June itself. Although many parties have shown interest initially, they backed out after knowing about the financial crisis of DC. As the DC owners have expressed their inability to sell the stake, BCCI is now planning to auction the franchise.
The DC Group has bagged the franchise for Rs 590 crores in 2008. BCCI will be using the bank guarantee deposited by DC to pay the salaries of the players. Deccan Chargers were the IPL 2 champions which was held in South Africa.
