PM Punch: Money Doesn't Grow On Trees
In a speech aimed at the common man of India, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh lashed out at critics for their lack of understanding about Foreign Direct Investment. PM has once again stressed that investments are needed to develop infrastructure of this country.
'No government wants to impose burden on common man. If we want economic development, decisions should be critical. To give subsidies to people, money doesn't grow on trees. It has to be pulled through investments', stated Manmohan, firing at his political critics. PM underlined that the whole world is in crisis and these reforms will pave way for a better India down the lane though they sound bitter now. 'Government is paying an additional cap of 17 rupees per litre diesel from its pocket, but hiked only 5 rupees for people. If 80% of our crude oil constitutes of imports, there is no way to escape hikes', PM stressed.
Once again, the great reformer Manmohan asserted that reforms are essential for development of country and to revive Indian economy, he feels that faster growth is essential to create employment opportunities. 'Government's actions are to pull investors and gain their confidence such that employment opportunities will grow', Manmmohan concludes.
Opposition parties are yet to respond to the critical remarks and straight forward knock given by Manmohan!
