4G speed test: Apple iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy GS3

Matt Warman tests Britain's first 4G network using the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 - which will win?

Technology Editor Matt Warman tested out connectivity speeds on the new EE mobile phone network, with the Samsung GS3 and iPhone 5.
The Samsung GS3 faired slightly better than the iPhone 5 in the test, achieving a speed of 30.1 megabits per second compared to the iPhone's 29.1 megabits per second.
The EE network, which is owned by Orange, is set to launch its super-fast forth generation (4G) services in 16 UK cities within the next few weeks.
Rival networks Vodafone, O2 and Three, are not expecting to be able to launch 4G services until the end of 2013.
The 4G services will allow customers with smartphones to access the internet up to ten times faster than with the 3G services which are currently in use.
Britain is to get widespread access to 4G mobile phone services by the summer of next year, six months earlier than hoped, after crunch talks between telecoms companies and the Government.
The UK has lagged behind the rest of Europe in offering 4G, and the roll-out is expected to inject life into the economy, making it easier to spend money online over mobile phones and allowing people to work more easily when they are in far flung reaches of the country.
