CPI(M) asks Karnataka to release water till October 15

The state Executive Council of CPI(M) today urged Karnataka to release 9,000 cusecs of water from Cauvery river to Tamil Nadu till October 15.
The state Executive described as "condemnable" Karnataka government's refusal to accept Prime Minister Manmohan Singh-led Cauvery River Authority (CRA) ruling asking it to release 9000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu.
Despite Supreme Court directing it to release 9000 cusecs of water water till October 15, Karnataka's announcement that it could do so only for three days amounted to refusing Tamil Nadu its right to irrigation from Cauvery water and such an approach by that state would further complicate the issue, the Executive resolved.
Party general secretary Prakash Karat, state unit secretary G Ramakrishnan and many other leaders participated in the three-day Executive Council meeting which got underway today.
