US begins clean-up after Sandy

Residents stand in front of a building on a flooded street

Americans are starting to rebuild and clean up their neighbourhoods after Hurricane Sandy tore across the US East Coast.
More than 40 people have died and eight million still have no power in their homes.
Today President Obama will visit New Jersey, one of the worst hit areas and has warned that the storm isn't over.
The bad weather is now moving inland and snow and blizzards are expected.
Many homes still have no power and the New York subway remains shut with flood water still covering parts of the city.
But some schools and airports are due to re-open.
The cost of clearing up after the storm has been estimated at over 20 billion pounds.
