Hero's Father describes Producer as Cashier

Veteran director-cum-producer VB Rajendra Prasad (Jagapathi Babu's father) who made films with all the top stars in 70s and 80s isn't happy with the way Telugu Film Industry has been heading towards.

Rajendra Prasad expressed his displeasure over treating the producer like a cashier now. "The producer has now become a cashier. Due to the real estate boom, the cost of production increased rapidly and when one rupee was required to spend, they are throwing away ten rupees. In those days, we used to take it as a huge responsibility because we have no other option but to sell our assets if the film fails. Planning the budget based on the subject and hero's market is a must, but that's missing now. People were of the opinion that to become a producer, money is all one needs and nothing else. A long career is possibly here only when you have knowledge about different aspects of film making," says the veteran.

Rajendra Prasad recollected the golden period in Tollywood when both NTR and ANR stood as two pillars for the Industry. "Both NTR and ANR used to cut down their remuneration when the Industry is going through tough times. Producer is a King then and he used to get a lot of respect. That's missing now. So, I'm openly saying I can't make films now," he complains.
