Kashmir players cry foul over 'biased' team selection; skip Ranji Trophy tie
New Delhi: Nov 27, 2012
The Kashmiri players from the Jammu & Kashmir team boycotted the round-four Ranji Trophy match againstAndhra Pradesh to protest ‘biased’ team selection by the selectors.
Twelve of the J&K players, including the captain Samiullah Beigh allege that the players from Jammu get a preferential treatment over those from Kashmir. The team, says the report, wrote a letter to the J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) to address their grievance. However, the complaint failed to elicit any response from the authorities, which propelled the players to skip the match against Andhra Pradesh.
According to a report in the Zee News, the feud between the players and the team management first aroused when the players boycotted a practice session after the announcement of the team for the third match, which included few players from Kashmir.
The Jammu & Kashmir team on Monday lost the tie to Andhra Pradesh by an innings.
