Guns n’ Roses rocks Bollywood, parties with Salman Khan

As of now, there’s no one bigger in Mumbai’s entertainment scene than Salman Khan. Which is why Axl Rose and other members of Guns N’ Roses kept their night free for the Dabangg hero after rocking the city with their show on Sunday evening, and partied with him till the wee hours of the morning.

Salman organised the party at the nightclub, Royalty, so that he could meet the members of the rock band. He arrived very late — at 2 am. Guests included his Dabangg co-star Sonakshi Sinha, actor Kangna Ranaut , Salman’s sister Arpita, and his brother Arbaaz Khan and sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan, as well as well-known people from the page 3 circuit including businessman Raja Dhody.

Not many people know that desi Salman has a strong liking for western music, especially heavy metal and rock. But he did not attend the concert earlier that evening because he was afraid of diverting attention from the band, says a friend of the actor. “At the party, however, Salman was in a great mood,” says the friend. “He and the members of GN’R connected instantly when they met. They shared jokes and laughed and partied hard.”

AXL RoseKangna Ranaut, meanwhile, had a moment of  joy of her own. When Raja Dhody introduced her to the members of the band as one of the ‘leading Indian actresses’, Axl Rose immediately compared her with Hollywood hottie Jennifer Garner. When we phoned Kangna to confirm this, she said shyly, “Who wouldn’t be excited to meet the legendary GN’R! They were very charming. Honestly, in the mountains of Himachal, where I was born and grew up, there’s hardly any concept of rock, but when I went to Delhi, I was exposed to it and I fell in love with rock music. It’s very liberating and that’s my philosophy of life.”
When the stars were star-struck
It was a packed house at the MMRDA grounds, BKC, on Sunday evening. Thousands of fans turned up for the Mumbai leg of celebrated American band Guns N’ Roses’ first-ever India tour. Even though the absence of the band’s former guitarist Slash was regretted by some old-timers, GN’R more than made up for it by belting out classic hits such as ‘November rain’, ‘Paradise city’ and ‘Sweet child o’ mine’, among others. At 50, lead vocalist Axl Rose was a powerhouse on stage, entertaining fans for almost three hours.

The concert saw significant Bollywood presence — Farhan Akhtar, Malaika Arora Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Ayushmann Khurrana and Gul Panag, among others, were there. A dedicated fan, Sanjay Dutt, who even gave his vanity van to Axl Rose, chose to skip the VIP section and join the crowd that cheered closer to the stage, with wife Manyata and sisters Namrata and Priya Dutt.

Even as guitar God Slash (Saul Hudson) was sorely missed, the Guns N' Roses concert had its moments. The band kicked off the concert with 'Chinese Democracy', one of their recent numbers, and followed it up with 'Welcome to the Jungle', but what got the crowds singing was their 1990s hit tune Sweet Child of Mine. FULL STORY
