Iconic designer Roberto Cavalli treates Delhi with his first-ever luxury flagship store

Iconic designer Roberto Cavalli launched his first-ever luxury flagship store and a chic café at The Emporio Mall in Vasant Kunj on Friday. The Italian maestro of prints looked every bit the fashion icon he is and is ready to woo the Indian clientele.

Speaking at the launch, the designer said he believes and is "sure that Indian ladies will love Cavalli clothes and will be great customers as my fashion seems perfect for them".

"Indian women are beautiful, sophisticated and sensual and they want to look divine and fantastic. I do believe in the Indian market and I love the taste for fashion of Indian people… they have a way to mix and match bright colours," Cavalli added.

The 72-year-old was in high spirits and in an interview with Mail Today admitted, "I love myself, I love life and I love my work and that's the key to my success, energy and enthusiasm". The designer with an appetite for life also confessed that his idea of a good time is "to spend time with close friends and family over a few glasses of wine at dinners and intimate social gatherings.

On being asked what a typical day in the life of Robert Cavalli is, the designer replied, "I travel a lot, I think a lot, I watch a lot. Everywhere there can be something that gives you inspiration and motivation to create more, that is how I spend my day." His hometown Florence had a major influence on who he is today besides having creative genius in his blood.

"My grandfather Giuseppe Rossi was an artist. Though he died when I was quite young, it is in my DNA or it was just my calling, my own mind," said the designer who feels people should be, "open to new ideas." He further said, "I am not conservative and I believe people should not be too fanatical."

When it comes to his own clothes, the fashion biggie admitted, "I am usually dressed the same way." Designer Manav Gangwani, who has collaborated with Cavalli, was also present on the occasion.

Though next on his agenda is Dubai, Cavalli also plans to open a store in Mumbai next year. Neha Dhupia and Zayed Khan added a dose of Bollywood glamour to the event, but with Roberto Cavalli present, it wasn't really necessary.
