UP 'honour killing': CM orders magisterial probe

Amid growing outrage over the alleged Bulandshahr honour killing, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has ordered magisterial probe into the case.
Abdul Hakim, a participant in Amir Khan's reality show 'Satyamev Jayate', was murdered in Aroli village of UP's Bulandshahr district in a suspected case of honour killing.
Riyaz Ahmed, the chairman of Khadi Gramodyog, who has the status of minister of state, said that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the murder.

Ahmed, who met Abdul Hakim's wife Mahvish, also said that an ex gratia of Rs.five lakhs would also be given to kin of the deceased from the chief minister's fund.
The probe order comes after the cops arrested fifth accused Malik on Saturday from Chola railway station. Prime accused Salman was already arrested on Thursday.
Earlier, FIRs were lodged against a total of five persons on the basis of complaint filed by Hakim's brother Yusuf.
Mehwish, the wife of 29-year-old Hakim has alleged that her family members were behind the death of her husband.
According to the Hakim's wife Mahvish, the victim was shot dead by her family members on November 22 after he had just entered the village along with her and their two-year-old daughter. The couple was in the village to visit Mahvish's ailing relatives.
The couple secretly married in June 2009 against the wishes of their families. Mahvish had eloped with Hakim in October 2010 and were staying in Delhi after the district panchayat announced a bounty of Rs. one lakh for killing the couple.
Hakim had also participated in an episode of reality show Satyamev Jayate, hosted by actor Aamir Khan, to speak against honour killing. On the show, he had revealed threats to his life from girl's family.
