News Update :

Cam Newton provides fantasy owners with 4 TDs

Monday, 23 September 2013

After a quiet first half Sunday, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton exploded in the second half against the New York Giants, leading his team to a 38-0 lead.

Overall on the day, Newton was 15 for 27 passing for 223 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. He added seven rushes for 45 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy impact: Had halftime come 13 seconds earlier, all four of Newton's touchdowns would have been second half scores, as the only touchdown the team scored before 00:12 in the second quarter was on a Mike Tolbert 2-yard run. He did complete three touchdown passes -- 16- and 20-yard scores to Brandon LaFell and a 47-yard touchdown to Ted Ginn Jr. Newton also contributed a 3-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

After the fourth quarter touchdown to Ginn, the Panthers completely put on the brakes, calling for no more passes and putting in backup Derek Anderson to finish out the game. That explains Newton only have 27 pass attempts and 223 yards. Regardless, any quarterback that can tally four scores in that little yardage is having a huge day.
