According to some reports, the dance Miley Cyrus helped popularize — even if her version is techincally inaccurate — had become a criminal offense in DeQuincy!
It was now apparently punishable by up to 30 days in prison!!!!
Whoa!! It's Footloose come to life — the horror!!!
We know Mileybird's VMAs performance with Robin Thicke was shocking, but was it really worth criminalizing?!
Thankfully, the anti-twerking law rumors were 100% fabricated!
The reports were just some sort of vicious prank, and Louisiana residents are free to twerk the night away to their heart's content!
DeQuincy Mayor Lawrence Henagan made this statement:
"[The rumored twerking ban is] a bunch of hogwash. There's nothing to it."
Phew!! Hopefully this quick debunking will spare the world a slew of unnecessary Men Without Hats references!!!
