[Original story]: Access to Grand Theft Auto Online will begin on Tuesday following the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 title updates for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Presently, Rockstar says the title updates are expected to roll out on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network at around 7am Eastern Time and 12 midday in the UK.

Free to GTA 5 owners but supported by microtransactions, GTA Online will be accessible via the fourth slot in the main game's character wheel.

Set a few months before the events of GTA 5's single player story, it's a persistent online world that will (initially at least) use the features, landscapes and mechanics of GTA 5.

Up to 16 players will be able to connect to the same gameplay session and take part in activities like looting, co-op heists, races, gang attacks and sports.

Rockstar uses different language but to all intents it's a GTA MMO. Go here to read everything you need to know to about GTA Online.
