Cape Town - South African author Charlie Human got caught right in the middle of the Charlie Hunnam drama after it was announced that the sexy actor would no longer be playing the lead role in the screen adaptation of the raunchy Fifty Shades of Grey.
Twitter users kept confusing “Human” with “Hunnam” which led to the author suddenly receiving loads of hate as well as support on the micro-blogging platform.
Human, writer of the book Apocalypse Now Now, decided to take advantage of his accidental fame and released a satirical statement announcing that “he was not the Christian Grey you’re looking for”.
In his fake statement Human wrote: “Since so many people have asked. Here is my official statement about pulling out of the 50 Shades of Grey movie.
“The sex tweets, the death threats, the sheer volume of tweets in Spanish directed at me; it has been wild ride but one that sadly has to come to an end.
“As you may have read I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to do the part justice. And by that I mean I was worried that fans wouldn’t like the movie, and then hunt me down, toying with me, letting me run thinking I could escape, before finally mobbing me and tearing the flesh from my bones in tiny sexy chunks.”
It all seemed innocently enough until a CNN blogger found the statement and confused it for the real thing.
Under the headline “5 Things to Know for Your New Day – Monday, October 14” the CNN blog posted Human’s tweet along with the link to the fake statement.
Human's tweet:
