'First Man on Moon' Passes Away

US astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, breathed his last at the age of 82. The reason for his death is said to be complications resulting from heart-bypass surgery he underwent earlier this month.

Armstrong who was the commander of the Apollo 11 mission landed on moon July 20, 1969. He spent around three hours on it by taking photographs, collecting samples and conducting samples. "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind," he commented after landing on moon's surface.

Armstrong was 38-year-old when he landed on moon to become the first human to do so. When he was asked how he felt knowing his footprints will stay on the surface of moon for thousands of years, he replied,"I hope somebody goes up there and cleans them up".
